An artist and dreamer, and the son of a blacklisted film director, Dennis Berry is a living witness to monumental cultural shifts in Western society. His journey has taken him from West to East, the opposite direction of the "American Dream”.
Starting amid the the glamour of the 1940s Hollywood film industry, DB’s story takes us through the McCarthy era that drove his family from their Hollywood home towards Europe, creating a life in exile in Paris of the 1960s, alive with the New Wave Cinema movement.
Through the poetry of his life, he takes us through the Black Panther Movement and Vietnam, May ’68 Paris, the devastation of loss
and the death of his wife, Jean Seberg, and his new beginnings with his current wife of 30 years, Anna Karina.
Now in his 70s, DB — a true "Auteur" in the spirit of the French New Wave — continues to live as an offbeat artist, embodying the integrity of the very soul of the 1960s dreamers.
